CHAPTER 10 COMPETITION

GUIDELINES

Who Can Enter?
Anyone, from anywhere (including illustrators of previous chapters and proxies).

Who Can’t Enter?
Writers who have written a previous chapter (1-9), Corrugated Lines committee members, coordinator, editors.

What To Do:
Write chapter 10, the resolving conclusion to the serial novella, Theft of a Pearl.
Word count: up to 1500 words.

How to Enter
Fill out an entry form with the title of your chapter and your name and contact details. Tell us a bit about yourself (bio) in no more than 50 words. Do not write your name on your story but do give it a title. There is no entry fee.

5:00pm WST Saturday, 25th July 2021

Announcement of Winners and Awarding of Prizes
The winners will be announced at the Opening of Corrugated Lines 2021 on Friday, 30th July 2021 at the Pearl Luggers. The winner of First Prize agrees to having their chapter, bio and photo published on the Backroom Press website shortly after the festival.

First, second and third prizes will be awarded. Prizes donated by Backroom Press, Magabala Books, and Kimberley Bookshop.

Judging
The three judges have provided the following guidance on what they will be looking for:

  1. The final chapter must be consistent with the content of the previous nine chapters.
  2. The chapter must be well-written, in good, flowing English
  3. There must be a logical resolution to the mystery of the Theft of the Pearl.
  4. We are looking for a good, dramatic ending.

The judges’ decision is final.
